NAMAZ OF IMAM MUHAMMAD TAQI (A) TO WARD OF EVIL

Nineteenth: This is the evil-averting prayer (Hijab) of Imam Muhammad ibn ‘Ali al-Taqi (‘a):

اَلْخَالِقُ اَعْظَمُ مِنَ الْمَخْلُوْقِيْنَ

The Creator is greater than the creatures.

وَ الرَّازِقُ اَبْسَطُ يَدًا مِنَ الْمَرْزُوْقِيْنَ

The Sustaining Lord is more liberal than the sustained beings.

وَ نَارُاللّٰهِ الْمُؤْصَدَةُ

The awning over fire of Allah

فِىْ عَمَدٍ مُمَدَّدَةٍ

in outstretched columns

تَكِيْدُ اَفْئِدَةَ الْمَرَدَةِ

will frustrate the plots of the hearts of the rebellious

وَ تَرُدُّ كَيْدَ الْحَسَدَةِ

and will thwart the trickeries of the envious

بِالْاَقْسَامِ بِالْاَحْكَامِ بِاللَّوْحِ الْمَحْفُوْظِ

in the name of the Oaths, the Decrees,

وَالْحِجَابِ الْمَضْرُوْبِ

the Preserved Tablet,

بِعَرْشِ رَبِّنَا الْعَظِيْمِ

the Hanged Down Screen,

اِحْتَجَبْتُ وَاسْتَتَرْتُ

and the Throne of our Great Lord.

وَاسْتَجَرْتُ وَ اعْتَصَمْتُ

I seek the screen, the covering,

وَ تَحَصَّنْتُ بِالٓمٓ

the shelter, the safeguard,

وَ بِكٓهٰيٰعٓصٓ

and the haven of ‘ail-lâm-mïm,’ ‘kâf-hâ’-yà'-'ayn-sàd,’

وَ بِطٰهٰ وَ بِطٰسٓمٓ

'tâ-hà,' 'tâ'-sïn-mlm,'

وَ بِحٰمٓ وَ بِحٰمٓعٓسٓقٓ وَ نٓ

‘hà'-mïm,’ ‘hâ'-mïm-ayn-sin-qâf,’ ‘nün,’

وَ بِطٰسٓ وَ بِقٓ وَالْقُرْاٰنِ الْمَجِيْدِ

‘tâ-sïn,’ ‘qàf,’ 'the Glorious Qur'àn,'

وَ اَنَّهُ لَقَسَمُ لَوْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ عَظِيْمٌ

and ‘And most surely, it is a very great oath if you only knew.’

وَاللّٰهُ وَلِيّى وَ نِعْمَ الْوَكِيْلُ

Allah is my guardian, and the most excellent protector is He.
