Shaykh al-Tusi, Sayyid Ibn Tawus, al-Kaf’ami, and Sayyid Ibn Baqi have recorded that it is recommended to say the following supplicatory prayer on Fridays and at Friday nights and on the day and night of ‘Arafat (the ninth of Dhu’l-Hijjah). However, the supplication will be hereinafter cited as quoted from Shaykh al-Tusi’s book of al-Misbah:

اَللّٰهُمَّ مَنْ تَعَبَّاَ وَ تَهَيَّاَ

O Allah, One may call up, prepare,

وَ اَعَدَّ وَ اسْتَعَدَّ

ready oneself, and stand prepared

لِوِفَادَةٍ اِلٰى مَخْلُوْقٍ

for purpose of coming to a creature

رَجَاۤءَ رِفْدِهِ

in the hope of gaining his aid

وَ طَلَبَ نَاۤئِلِهِ وَ جَاۤئِزَتِهِ

and asking for his gift and present.

فَاِلَيْكَ يَا رَبِّ تَعْبِيَتِيْ وَ اسْتِعْدَادِيْ

As for myself, to You—O my Lord—I make my preparations and readiness

رَجَاۤءَ عَفْوِكَ

hoping for Your pardon

وَ طَلَبَ نَاۤئِلِكَ وَ جَاۤئِزَتِكَ

and asking for Your gift and present.

فَلَا تُخَيِّبْ دُعَاۤئِي

So, (please) do not disappoint my entreat

يَا مَنْ لَا يَخِيْبُ عَلَيْهِ سَاۤئِلٌ [السَّاۤئِلُ‏]

He Who never disappoints His beseechers

وَ لَا يَنْقُصُهُ نَاۤئِلٌ

and Whose prizes never decrease His ample-giving!

فَاِنِّيْ لَمْ اٰتِكَ ثِقَةً بِعَمَلٍ صَالِحٍ عَمِلْتُهُ

have not come to You with confidence of a righteous deed that I have done

وَ لَا لِوِفَادَةِ مَخْلُوْقٍ رَجَوْتُهُ

nor have I had any hope in a grant of any creature.

اَتَيْتُكَ مُقِرًّا عَلٰى نَفْسِيْ بِالْاِسَاۤءَةِ وَ الظُّلْمِ،

Rather, I have come to You professing myself to be evildoer and transgressor

مُعْتَرِفًا بِاَنْ لَّا حُجَّةَ لِيْ وَ لَا عُذْرَ

and confessing that I lack any pretext or excuse.

اَتَيْتُكَ اَرْجُوْ عَظِيْمَ عَفْوِكَ

I have come to You hoping for Your great pardon

الَّذِيْ عَفَوْتَ [عَلَوْتَ‏] بِهِ [عَلٰى‏] عَنِ الْخَاۤطِئِيْنَ [الْخَطَّاۤئِيْنَ‏]

due to which You have pardoned the wrongdoers.

فَلَمْ يَمْنَعْكَ طُوْلُ عُكُوْفِهِمْ عَلٰى عَظِيْمِ الْجُرْمِ

Hence, their long-lasting retirement to their grave offenses has not prevented You

اَنْ عُدْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِالرَّحْمَةِ

from turning to them with mercy.

فَيَا مَنْ رَحْمَتُهُ وَاسِعَةٌ

O He Whose mercy is huge

وَ عَفْوُهُ عَظِيْمٌ

and Whose pardon is great;

يَا عَظِيْمُ يَا عَظِيْمُ يَا عَظِيْمُ

O All-great, O Allgreat, O All-great;

لَا يَرُدُّ غَضَبَكَ اِلَّا حِلْمُكَ

nothing can repel Your rage except Your forbearance

وَ لَا يُنْجِيْ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ اِلَّا التَّضَرُّعُ اِلَيْكَ

and nothing can save from Your wrathexcept imploring earnestly to You.

فَهَبْ لِيْ يَاۤ اِلٰهِيْ فَرَجًا

So, my God, (please) grant me a relief

بِالْقُدْرَةِ الَّتِيْ تُحْيِيْ بِهَا مَيْتَ الْبِلَادِ،

in the name of the power through which You restore to life the derelict lands,

وَ لَا تُهْلِكْنِيْ غَمًّا حَتّٰى تَسْتَجِيْبَ لِيْ

and do not cause me to perish out of grief until You respond to me

وَ تُعَرِّفَنِي الْاِجَابَةَ فِي دُعَاۤئِي

and show me signs of Your response to my prayers.

وَ اَذِقْنِيْ طَعْمَ الْعَافِيَةِ اِلٰى مُنْتَهٰى اَجَلِيْ

(please) Make me taste the flavor of wellbeing up to the end of my lifetime,

وَ لَا تُشْمِتْ بِيْ عَدُوِّيْ

do not make my enemies gloat over me,

وَ لَا تُسَلِّطْهُ عَلَيَّ

do not give them a hand over me,

وَ لَا تُمَكِّنْهُ مِنْ عُنُقِيْ

and do not make them control over me.

اَللّٰهُمَّ [اِلٰهِيْ‏] اِنْ وَضَعْتَنِيْ فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِيْ يَرْفَعُنِي

Allah, If You humiliate me, who can then exalt me?

وَ اِنْ رَفَعْتَنِيْ فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِيْ يَضَعُنِيْ

And if You exalt me, who can then humiliate me?

وَ اِنْ اَهْلَكْتَنِيْ فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِيْ يَعْرِضُ لَكَ فِي عَبْدِكَ

If You annihilate me, who can then interfere before You concerning the affair of me—Your slave

اَوْ يَسْاَلُكَ عَنْ اَمْرِهِ،

or who can intercede to ask You about it?

وَ قَدْ عَلِمْتُ اَنَّهُ لَيْسَ فِي حُكْمِكَ ظُلْمٌ

have already known for sure that Your decrees are devoid of injustice

وَ لَا فِي نَقِمَتِكَ عَجَلَةٌ

and Your punishment does not count on immediateness.

وَ اِنَّمَا يَعْجَلُ مَنْ يَخَافُ الْفَوْتَ

Verily, immediateness is the work of him who fears lest he may miss,

وَ اِنَّمَا يَحْتَاجُ اِلَى الظُّلْمِ الضَّعِيْفُ

and only do the weak need injustice.

وَ قَدْ تَعَالَيْتَ يَاۤ اِلٰهِيْ عَنْ ذٰلِكَ عُلُوًّا كَبِيرًا

As for You, O my God, You are too exalted to be so—Exalted and Great You are beyond all measure!

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْ اَعُوْذُ بِكَ فَاَعِذْنِيْ

Allah, I take refuge in You; so, (please) have protection upon me!

وَ اَسْتَجِيْرُ بِكَ فَاَجِرْنِيْ

call for Your safekeeping; so, (please) keep me under Your security!

وَ اَسْتَرْزِقُكَ فَارْزُقْنِيْ

I appeal for Your sustenance; so, (please) provide me with sustenance!

وَ اَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيْكَ فَاكْفِنِيْ

I put trust in You; so, (please) keep me under Your supervision!

وَ اَسْتَنْصِرُكَ عَلٰى عَدُوِّيْ [عَدُوِّكَ‏] فَانْصُرْنِيْ

I call for Your aid against my enemy; so, (please) grant me support!

وَ اَسْتَعِيْنُ بِكَ فَاَعِنِّيْ

I seek Your assistance; so, (please) assist me!

وَ اَسْتَغْفِرُكَ يَاۤ اِلٰهِيْ فَاغْفِرْ لِيْ

I ask for Your forgiveness; so, (please) forgive me.

اٰمِيْنَ اٰمِيْنَ اٰمِيْنَ۔

So, respond! Respond! Respond!
