The Supplication of Relief:
In his book of al-Balad al-Amin, Shaykh al-Kaf’ami has mentioned a brief supplication entitled Dua al-Faraj (The Supplication of Relief). This supplication comprises the following seeking of advocacy. Presumably, seeking of the advocacy (tawassul) of the Holy Twelve Imams (a.s.) that is ascribed to Khajah Nasir al-Din is an installation of this supplication in addition to the supplicatory prayer of invoking Allah’s blessings upon the Immaculate Imams with a brilliant composition mentioned by al-Kaf’ami in the end of his book of al-Misbah. Quoting from the book of Qabas al-Masabih by Shaykh al-Sahrashti, Sayyid Ali Khan has mentioned a supplicatory prayer with an explanatory commentary in his book of al-Kalim al-Tayyib. Yet, this commentary will not be mentioned herewith for fear of lengthiness. Dua al-Faraj is thus as follows:
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلٰى اِبْنَتِهِ وَعَلٰى اِبْنَيْهَا
O Allah, send blessings to Muhammad, his daughter, and her two sons.
وَاَسْئَلُكَ بِهِمْ اَنْ تُعِيْنَنِىْ عَلٰى طَاعَتِكَ وَرِضْوَانِكَ
I implore You in their name to help me obey You and attain Your pleasure,
وَاَنْ تُبَلِّغَنِىْ بِهِمْ اَفْضَلَ مَا بَلَّغْتَ اَحَدًا مِنْ اَوْلِيَاۤئِكَ
and to grant me in their names the utmost of that which You grant to any of Your intimate servants.
اِنَّكَ جَوَادٌ كَرِيْمٌ
You are certainly All-munificent, All- generous.
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ اَمِيْرِالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
O Allah, I implore You in the name of the Commander of the Believers,
عَلِىِّبْنِاَبِيْطَالِبٍ عَلَيْهَالسَّلَامُ
Ali ibn Abi-Talib, peace be upon him,
اِلَّا انْتَقَمْتَ بِهِ مِمَّنْ ظَلَمَنِىْ وَغَشَمَنِىْ
to take revenge on those who have wronged, oppressed,
وَاٰذَانِىْ وَانْطَوٰى عَلٰى ذٰلِكَ
and annoyed me persistently;
وَكَفَيْتَنِىْ بِهِ مَؤُنَةَ كُلِّ اَحَدٍ
and to make me dispose witheverybody.
يَاۤ اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ۔
O most Merciful of all those who show mercy!
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ وَلِيِّكَ
O Allah, I implore You in the name of Your intimate servant,
عَلِىِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ
Ali ibn al-Husayn, peace be upon him,
اِلَّا كَفَيْتَنِىْ بِهِ مَؤُنَةَ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَرِيْدٍ
to protect me against the evil of all rebel devils
وَسُلْطَانٍ عَنِيْدٍ
and every tyrannical sovereign
يَتَقَوّٰى عَلَىَّ بِبَطْشِهِ
who has power over me by means of violence
وَيَنْتَصِرُ عَلَىَّ بِجُنْدِهِ
and overcomes me by means of his fans.
اِنَّكَ جَوَادٌ كَرِيْمٌ
You are certainly All-munificent, All-generous.
يَا وَهَّابُ۔
O abundantly Grantor!
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ وَلِيَّيْكَ
O Allah, I implore in the name of Your two intimate servants,
مُحَمَّدٍ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَجَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ
Muhammad ibn 'Ali and Ja'far ibn Muhammad, peace be upon both of them,
اِلَّا اَعَنْتَنِىْ بِهِمَا عَلٰى اَمْرِ اٰخِرَتِىْ
to help me, in their name, manage the affairs of my Next Life
بِطَاعَتِكَ وَرِضْوَانِكَ
by means of obedience to You and attainment of Your pleasure;
وَبَلَّغْتَنِىْ بِهِمَا مَا يُرْضِيْكَ
and to make me, in their name, attain all that which achieves Your pleasure.
اِنَّكَ فَعَّالٌ لِمَا تُرِيْدُ۔
You surely do all that which You want.
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّى اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ وَلِيِّكَ
O Allah, I implore You in the name of Your intimate servant,
مُوْسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ
Musa ibn Ja'far, peace be upon him,
اِلَّا عَافَيْتَنِىْ بِهِ فِىْ جَمِيْعِ جَوَارِحِىْ
to give good health, in his name, to all of my organs,
مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَابَطَنَ
be they internal or external,
يَا جَوَادُ يَا كَرِيْمُ۔
O All-magnanimous and All-generous!
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنّى اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ وَلِيِّكَ
O Allah, I implore You in the name of Your intimate servant,
الرِّضَا عَلِىِّ بْنِ مُوْسٰى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ
the Amicable 'Ali ibn Musa, peace be upon him,
اِلَّا سَلَّمْتَنِىْ بِهِ فِىْ جَمِيْعِ اَسْفَارِىْ
to secure me during my journeys;
فِى الْبَرَارِىْ وَالْبِحَارِ
in lands and seas,
وَالْجِبَالِ والْقِفَارِ
on mountains and in plains,
وَالْاَوْدِيَةِ وَالْغِيَاضِ
in valleys and in jungles,
مِنْ جَمِيْعِ مَا اَخَافُهُ وَاَحْذَرُهُ
against all that which I fear or anticipate.
اِنَّكَ رَؤُفٌ رَحِيْمٌ۔
You are certainly Allkind and All-merciful.
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ وَلِيِّكَ
O Allah, I implore You in the name of Your intimate servant,
مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ
Muhammad ibn 'Ali, peace be upon him,
اِلَّا جُدْتَ بِهِ عَلَىَّ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ
to confer upon me with Your grace,
وَتَفَضَّلْتَ بِهِ عَلىَّ مِنْ وُسْعِكَ
bestow upon me Your limitless favor,
وَوَسَّعْتَ عَلَىَّ رِزْقَكَ
expand for me Your sustenance,
وَاَغْنَيْتَنِىْ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
make me dispose with anyone save You,
وَجَعَلْتَ حَاجَتِىْ اِلَيْكَ
and make all my needs to be referred to You alone
وَقَضَاهَا عَلَيْكَ
and to be settled by none save You.
اِنَّكَ لِمَا تَشَاۤءُ قَدِيْرٌ۔
You certainly have power over all things that You will.
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ وَلِيِّكَ
O Allah, I implore You in the name of Your intimate servant,
عَلِىِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ
Ali ibn Muhammad, peace be upon both of them,
اِلَّا اَعَنْتَنِىْ بِهِ عَلٰى تَاْدِيَةِ فُرُوْضِكَ
to help me perform the duties that You have made incumbent upon me,
وَبِرِّ اِخْوَانِىَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
make me act righteously towards my brethren-in-faith,
وَسَهِّلْ ذٰلِكَ لِىْ وَاقْرُنْهُ بِالْخَيْرِ
make all that easy for me to do, add it to goodness,
وَاَعِنِّىْ عَلٰى طَاعَتِكَ
and help me obey You,
بِفَضْلِكَ يَا رَحِيْمُ۔
in the name of Your grace, O All-merciful!
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ وَلِيِّكَ
O Allah, I implore You in the name of Your intimate servant,
الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ
al-Hasan ibn 'Ali, peace be upon both of them,
اِلَّا اَعَنْتَنِىْ بِهِ عَلٰى اَمْرِ اٰخِرَتِىْ
to help me manage the affairs of my Next Life
بِطَاعَتِكَ وَرِضْوَانِكَ
through obedience to You and attainment of Your pleasure
وَسَرَرْتَنِىْ فِىْ مُنْقَلَبِىْ وَمَثْوَاىَ
]and to make me happy in this abode as well as my final abode
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَاۤ اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ ۔
in the name of Your mercy, O most Merciful of all those who show mercy!
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ وَلِيِّكَ وَحُجَّتِكَ
O Allah, I implore You in the name of Your intimate servant and Argument (against Your creatures),
صَاحِبِ الزَّمَانِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ
the Patron of the Age, peace be upon him,
اِلَّا اَعَنْتَنِىْ بِهِ عَلٰى جَمِيْعِ اُمُوْرِىْ
to help me in all of my affairs,
وَكَفَيْتَنِىْ بِهِ مَؤُنَةَ كُلِّ مُوْذٍ وَطَاغٍ وَبَاغٍ
save me against the evil of all the harmful, the tyrannical, and the oppressors,
وَاَعَنْتَنِىْ بِهِ فَقَدْ بَلَغَ مَجْهُوْدِى
save me, in his name, for I have exerted all my efforts,
وَكَفَيْتَنِىْ بِهِكُلَّ عَدُوٍّ
protect me, in his name, against all enemies,
وَهَمٍّوَغَمٍّ وَدَيْنٍ
all grief, sorrows, and debts,
وَعَنِّىْ وَعَنْوُلْدِىْ وَ جَمِيْعِاَهْلِىْ وَاِخْوَانِىْ
on behalf of me, my sons, all my people, my friends,
وَمَنْ يَعْنِيْنِىْ اَمْرُهُ وَخَآصَّتِىْ
all those to whom I concern, and those to whom I pay special attention.
اٰمِيْنَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ۔
Respond to me, O Lord of the worlds!
