PRAYERS & DU'AS OF NIGHT OF EID UL FITR
Eighth: It is recommended to offer a two unit prayer reciting, in the first unit, Surah al-Faatehah once and repeating Surah al-Tawheed one thousand times and reciting, in the second unit, Surah al-Faatehah once and Surah al-Tawheed once only. After accomplishment, it is recommended to prostrate and say the following:
اَتُوبُ اِلَى اللهِ
I turn repentant unto Allah.
After that, the following supplicatory prayer should be said:
يَا ذَا الْمَنِّ وَ الْجُوْدِ
O Lord of favoring and magnanimity!
يَا ذَا الْمَنِّ وَ الطَّوْلِ
O Lord of favoring and bounty!
يَا مُصْطَفِيَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهِ
O He Who has selected Muhammad, peace of Allah be upon him and his Household,
صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِهِ
(please do) send blessings to Muhammad and his Household.
Then, one may pray for the granting of one’s personal needs.
It is reported that when Imam AliAmeer al-Momineen(a.s.) used to offer this prayer, he would say, “I swear by Him Who grasps my soul, Almighty Allah shall definitely respond to whoever offers this prayer and then prays Him for granting his needs, and Almighty Allah shall forgive him even if his sins would be as much as the pebbles in deserts.”
According to another narration, Surah al-Tawheed is repeated one hundred times, not one thousand. Yet, this narration has mentioned that this prayer is offered after the Maghrib obligatory and supererogatory (mustahab / nafilah) prayers.
Having mentioned this prayer, Shaykh al-Tusi and Sayyid Ibn Tawus recorded that the following supplicatory prayer should be said after the prayer:
يَا اَللّٰهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!
يَا رَحْمَانُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Beneficent! O Allah!
يَا رَحِيْمُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Merciful! O Allah!
يَا مَلِكُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Sovereign! O Allah!
يَا قُدُّوْسُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Most Holy! O Allah!
يَا سَلَامُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Peace! O Allah!
يَا مُؤْمِنُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Giver of security! O Allah!
يَا مُهَيْمِنُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O All-prevailing! O Allah!
يَا عَزِيْزُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Almighty! O Allah!
يَا جَبَّارُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Omnipotent! O Allah!
يَا مُتَكَبِّرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O All-great! O Allah!
يَا خَالِقُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Creator! O Allah!
يَا بَارِئُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Inventor! O Allah!
يَا مُصَوِّرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Shaper! O Allah!
يَا عَالِمُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O All-knowing! O Allah!
يَا عَظِيْمُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Great! O Allah!
يَا عَلِيْمُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Knowing! O Allah!
يَا كَرِيْمُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O All-generous! O Allah!
يَا حَلِيْمُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Indulgent! O Allah!
يَا حَكِيْمُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Wise! O Allah!
يَا سَمِيْعُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Hearer! O Allah!
يَا بَصِيْرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Seer! O Allah!
يَا قَرِيْبُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Near! O Allah!
يَا مُجِيْبُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Responder! O Allah!
يَا جَوَادُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O All-magnanimous! O Allah!
يَا مَاجِدُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Glorious! O Allah!
يَا مَلِيُّ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Rich and Powerful! O Allah!
يَا وَفِيُّ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Sincere! O Allah!
يَا مَوْلٰى يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Lord-Master! O Allah!
يَا قَاضِيْ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Judge! O Allah!
يَا سَرِيْعُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Swift! O Allah!
يَا شَدِيْدُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Firm! O Allah!
يَا رَؤُفُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Compassionate! O Allah!
يَا رَقِيْبُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Preserver! O Allah!
يَا مَجِيْدُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Mighty! O Allah!
يَا حَفِيْظُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Protector! O Allah!
يَا مُحِيْطُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Encompasser! O Allah!
يَا سَيِّدَ السَّادَاتِ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Chief of the chiefs! O Allah!
يَا اَوَّلُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Ever-Foremost! O Allah!
يَا اٰخِرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Eternally Last! O Allah!
يَا ظَاهِرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Evident! O Allah!
يَا بَاطِنُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Intrinsic Fundamental! O Allah!
يَا فَاخِرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Glorious! O Allah!
يَا قَاهِرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Victor! O Allah!
يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Lord-Nourisher! O Allah!
يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Lord-Nourisher! O Allah!
يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Lord-Nourisher! O Allah!
يَا وَدُوْدُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Loving! O Allah!
يَا نُوْرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Light! O Allah! '
يَا رَافِعُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Raiser! O Allah!
يَا مَانِعُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Preventer! O Allah!
يَا دَافِعُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Defender! O Allah!
يَا فَاتِحُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Introducer! O Allah!
يَا نَفَّاحُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Bountiful! O Allah!
يَا جَلِيْلُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Magnificent! O Allah!
يَا جَمِيْلُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Handsome! O Allah!
يَا شَهِيْدُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Witness! O Allah!
يَا شَاهِدُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Present! O Allah!
يَا مُغِيْثُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Succorer! O Allah!
يَا حَبِيْبُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Beloved! O Allah!
يَا فَاطِرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Creator out of nothing! O Allah!
يَا مُطَهِّرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Purifier! O Allah!
يَا مَلِكُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Master! O Allah!
يَا مُقْتَدِرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O All-powerful! O Allah!
يَا قَابِضُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Possessor! O Allah!
يَا بَاسِطُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Spreader! O Allah!
يَا مُحْيِيْ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Vivifier! O Allah!
يَا مُمِيْتُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Exterminator! O Allah!
يَا بَاعِثُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Causer! O Allah!
يَا وَارِثُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Inheritor! O Allah!
يَا مُعْطِيْ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Bestower! O Allah!
يَا مُفْضِلُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Favorer! O Allah!
يَا مُنْعِمُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Benefactor! O Allah!
يَا حَقُّ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Truth! O Allah!
يَا مُبِيْنُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Distinct! O Allah!
يَا طَيِّبُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Affable! O Allah!
يَا مُحْسِنُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Polite! O Allah!
يَا مُجْمِلُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Graceful! O Allah!
يَا مُبْدِئُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Originator! O Allah!
يَا مُعِيْدُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O He Who brings back all things! O Allah!
يَا بَارِئُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O He Who makes visible! O Allah!
يَا بَدِيْعُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Inventor! O Allah!
يَا هَادِيْ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Guide! O Allah!
يَا كَافِيْ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Able! O Allah!
يَا شَافِيْ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Efficacious! O Allah!
يَا عَلِيُّ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O High! O Allah!
يَا عَظِيْمُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Great! O Allah!
يَا حَنَّانُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Tender! O Allah!
يَا مَنَّانُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Kind! O Allah!
يَا ذَا الطَّوْلِ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Owner of bounties! O Allah!
يَا مُتَعَالِيْ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Allah! O Most High! O Allah!
يَا عَدْلُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Just! O Allah!
يَا ذَا الْمَعَارِجِ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Owner of ascendancy! O Allah!
يَا صَادِقُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Truthful! O Allah!
يَا صَدُوْقُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Sincere! O Allah!
يَا دَيَّانُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Requiter! O Allah!
يَا بَاقِيْ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O He Who remains for ever! O Allah!
يَا وَاقِيْ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Vigilant! O Allah!
يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Owner of majesty! O Allah!
يَا ذَا الْاِكْرَامِ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Owner of glory! O Allah!
يَا مَحْمُوْدُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Admirable! O Allah!
يَا مَعْبُوْدُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Adorable! O Allah!
يَا صَانِعُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Maker! O Allah!
يَا مُعِيْنُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Helper! O Allah!
يَا مُكَوِّنُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Doer! O Allah!
يَا فَعَّالُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Active! O Allah!
يَا لَطِيْفُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Subtle! O Allah!
يَا غَفُوْرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Oft-forgiving! O Allah!
يَا شَكُوْرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Very Thankful! O Allah!
يَا نُوْرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Splendid! O Allah!
يَا قَدِيْرُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Omnipotent! O Allah!
يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Lord-Nourisher! O Allah!
يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Lord-Nourisher! O Allah!
يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Lord-Nourisher! O Allah!
يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Lord-Nourisher! O Allah!
يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Lord-Nourisher! O Allah!
يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Lord-Nourisher! O Allah!
يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Lord-Nourisher! O Allah!
يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Lord-Nourisher! O Allah!
يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Lord-Nourisher! O Allah!
يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Lord-Nourisher! O Allah!
اَسْاَلُكَ اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
I beseech You to send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
وَ تَمُنَّ عَلَيَّ بِرِضَاكَ
favor on me with Your pleasure,
وَ تَعْفُوَ عَنِّيْ بِحِلْمِكَ
grant me amnesty through Your munificence,
وَ تُوَسِّعَ عَلَيَّ مِنْ رِزْقِكَ الْحَلَالِ الطَّيِّبِ
and expand Your lawful, good sustenance to me
وَ مِنْ حَيْثُ اَحْتَسِبُ، وَ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَاۤ اَحْتَسِبُ
from whence I expect and from whence I do not,
فَاِنِّيْ عَبْدُكَ لَيْسَ لِيْۤ اَحَدٌ سِوَاكَ
for I am Your servant, I have no one else other than You,
وَ لَاۤ اَحَدٌ اَسْاَلُهُ غَيْرُكَ
and there is no one to whom I turn to other than You!
يَاۤ اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
O Most Merciful of the Merciful!
مَا شَاۤءَ اَللّٰهُ
Only that which Allah wills takes place.
لَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيْمِ
There is no power except in Allah, the High, the Great.
One may then prostrate oneself and say the following:
يَا اَللّٰهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ يَا اَللّٰهُ
O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!
يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ
O Lord-Nourisher! O Lord-Nourisher! O Lord-Nourisher!
يَا مُنْزِلَ الْبَرَكَاتِ
O He Who sends down blessing!
بِكَ تُنْزَلُ كُلُّ حَاجَةٍ
To You only are all desires turned.
اَسْاَلُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ فِيْ مَخْزُوْنِ الْغَيْبِ عِنْدَكَ
I beseech You in the name of every name treasured in Your invisible collection,
وَ الْاَسْمَاۤءِ الْمَشْهُوْرَاتِ عِنْدَكَ
and in the name of Your celebrated names,
الْمَكْتُوْبَةِ عَلٰى سُرَادِقِ عَرْشِكَ
inscribed on the hangings of Your Throne,
اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
to send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
وَ اَنْ تَقْبَلَ مِنِّيْ شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ
to accept my offerings made in the month of Ramadan,
وَ تَكْتُبَنِيْ مِنَ الْوَافِدِيْنَ اِلٰى بَيْتِكَ الْحَرَامِ
to record my name in the list of those who will journey to Your Sacred House,
وَ تَصْفَحَ لِيْ عَنِ الذُّنُوْبِ الْعِظَامِ
to overlook my grand sins,
وَ تَسْتَخْرِجَ لِيْ يَا رَبِّ كُنُوْزَكَ يَا رَحْمٰنُ۔
to demonstrate, O Lord, before me Your treasures, O All-beneficent!
Ninth: It is recommended to offer a prayer of fourteen units and to recite Surah al-Faatehah once, Ayah al-Kursi once, and Surah al-Tawheed three times at each unit. The reward of offering each unit of this prayer is as same as the reward of forty-year worship as well as the reward of each and every one who has observed fasting and offered prayers in this month.
Tenth: In Misbah al-Mutahajjid, Shaykh al-Tusi says: At the last hour of this night, you may bathe yourself and sit in your prayer-place until dawn (fajr).
