BRIEF SUPPLICATIONS FOR THIS WORLD AND OTHER WORLDLY DESIRES

Although they are numerous, I will mention only thirty supplicatory prayers for this-worldly and otherworldly requests:

First: Imam al-Sadiq (‘a) is reported to have advised of saying this supplicatory prayer:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِىْۤ اَخْشَاكَ كَاَنِّىْۤ اَرَاكَ

O Allah, (please) make me fear You as if I can see You.

وَ اَسْعِدْنِىْ بِتَقْوٰيكَ

Make me happy to act piously towards You.

وَلَاتُشْقِنِىْ بِنَشْطِىْ لِمَعَاصِيْكَ

Do not distress me by granting me activity to commit acts of disobedience to You.

وَ خِرْلِىْ فِىْ قَضَاۤئِكَ

Choose for me through Your decree.

وَ بَارِكْ لِىْ فِىْ قَدَرِكَ

Bless me through Your determination

حَتّٰى لَا اُحِبَّ تَاْخِيْرَمَا عَجَّلْتَ

so that I will not long for delaying that which You would hasten

وَلَاتَعْجِيْلَ مَاۤ اَخَّرْتَ

or hastening that which You have delayed.

وَاجْعَلْ غِنَاىَ فِىْ نَفْسِىْ

And (please) make my richness in my conscience

وَ مَتِّعْنِىْ بِسَمْعِىْ وَ بَصَرِىْ

and make me find enjoyment in my hearing and sight.

وَ اجْعَلْهُمَا الْوَارِثَيْنِ مِنِّىْ

Make them sound until I am inherited.

وَانْصُرْنِىْ عَلٰى مَنْ ظَلَمَنِىْ

Grant me victory over him who wrongs me,

وَاَرِنِىْ فِيْهِ قُدْرَتَكَ يَا رَبِّ

make me see signs of Your power in him, O my Lord,

وَ اَقِرَّ بِذٰلِكَ عَيْنِىْ

and make Your favors to be the delight of my eye.

Second: Imam al-Sadiq (‘a) is also reported to have advised of saying this supplicatory prayer:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اَعِنِّىْ عَلٰى هَوْلِ يَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِ

O Allah, (please) help me encounter the horror of the Resurrection Day,

وَاَخْرِجْنِىْ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا سَالِمًا

take me out of this world soundly,

وَ زَوِّجْنِىْ مِنَ الْحُوْرِ الْعِيْنِ

give me in marriage the Paradisiacal women,

وَاكْفِنِىْ مَؤُنَتِىْ وَ مَؤُنَةَ عِيَالِىْ

save me from procuring the provisions of myself, my family members,

وَ مَؤُنَةَ النَّاسِ

and people,

وَاَدْخِلْنِىْ بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِىْ عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِيْنَ۔

and include me, in the name of Your mercy, with Your righteous servants.
