SURAH AL-MAA’UN (THE DAILY NECESSITIES)
This surah was revealed in Mecca and it has 7 verses. It is narrated from Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s.) that if a person recites this surah in any of his prayers, then they will be accepted.
The sins of those who recite this surah are forgiven. If recited a hundred times after the Fajr prayers, one remains safe until the next day’s Fajr time. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) said that if a person recites surah al-Maa’un forty-one times every day, he and his family will remain free from being dependant on others for their sustenance. (It is recommended that salawaat should also be recited after the first and last ten times)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
(1) Have you considered him who calls the Judgement a lie?
(2) That is the one who treats the orphan with harshness,
(3) And does not urge (others) to feed the poor.
(4) So woe to the praying ones,
(5) Who are unmindful of their prayers,
(6) Who do (good) to be seen,
(7) And withhold the necessaries of life.
