SURAH AL-ZILZAAL (THE EARTHQUAKE)
This surah was revealed in Madinah and it has 8 verses. It is narrated from Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) that whoever recites this surah in his nawafil (recommended) prayers will not die as a result of an earthquake and will be saved from all the natural calamities.
The experience of death is made easy for the one who recites this surah and he sees the light of Paradise as he is about to die. Then, seventy thousand angels accompany his soul to the heavens. Keeping this surah in one’s possession is a safety from tyrant rulers.
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
<font color="000000"><b>In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.</b></font>
اِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ الْاَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا ۙ(1)
<font color="000000"><b>(1) When the earth is shaken with her (violent) shaking,</b></font>
وَاَخْرَجَتِ الْاَرْضُ اَثْقَالَهَا ۙ(2)
<font color="000000"><b>(2) And the earth brings forth her burdens,</b></font>
وَقَالَ الْاِنْسَانُ مَا لَهَا ۚ(3)
<font color="000000"><b>(3) And man says: What has befallen her?</b></font>
يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ اَخْبَارَهَا ۙ(4)
<font color="000000"><b>(4) On that day she shall tell her news,</b></font>
بِاَنَّ رَبَّكَ اَوْحٰى لَهَا ؕ(5)
<font color="000000"><b>(5) Because your Lord had inspired her.</b></font>
يَوْمَئِذٍ يَّصْدُرُ النَّاسُ اَشْتَاتًا ۙ لِّيُرَوْا اَعْمَالَهُمْؕ(6)
<font color="000000"><b>(6) On that day men shall come forth in sundry bodies that they may be shown their works.</b></font>
فَمَنْ يَّعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَّرَهٗ ؕ(7)
<font color="000000"><b>(7) So. he who has done an atom's weight of good shall see it</b></font>
وَمَنْ يَّعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَّرَهٗ(8)
<font color="000000"><b>(8) And he who has done an atom's weight of evil shall see it.</b></font>
