Through a valid chain of authority, Imam alKazim (‘a) is reported to have asked Ibrahim ibn Abi’lBallad, “What do you say when you visit alHusayn (‘a)?”
The man answered: I say the following words:
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَاۤ اَبَا عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ
اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ قَدْ اَقَمْتَ الصَّلَاةَ
وَ اَمَرْتَ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ
وَ نَهَيْتَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ
وَ دَعَوْتَ اِلٰى سَبِيْلِ رَبِّكَ
بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَ الْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ
وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ الَّذِيْنَ سَفَكُوْا دَمَكَ وَ اسْتَحَلُّوْا حُرْمَتَكَ
مَلْعُوْنُوْنَ مُعَذَّبُوْنَ عَلٰى لِسَانِ دَاوُدَ وَ عِيْسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ
ذٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوْا وَ كَانُوْا يَعْتَدُوْنَ۔
Peace be upon you, O Abu-'Abdullah. Peace be upon you, O son of Allah’s Messenger. I bear witness that you performed the prayers, defrayed the poor-rate, enjoining the right, forbade the evil, and called to the way of your Lord with wisdom and excellent exhortation. I also bear witness that those who shed your blood and violated your sanctity have been accursed, and will be tortured, by the tongue of David and Jesus the son of Mary. This was because they disobeyed and used to exceed the limit.
The Imam (‘a) commented, “Yes, this is accurate.”
