IMAM AL-JAWAD’S SUPPLICATION

اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّ الْاَرْوَاحِ الْفَانِيَةِ

O Allah, Lord of the souls passing away

وَ الْاَجْسَادِ الْبَالِيَةِ

and the rotten corpses!

اَسْاَلُكَ بِطَاعَةِ الْاَرْوَاحِ الرَّاجِعَةِ اِلٰى اَجْسَادِهَا [اَحِبَّاۤئِهَا]

I beseech You in the name of the obedience of the souls that are restored to their bodies

وَ بِطَاعَةِ الْاَجْسَادِ الْمُلْتَئِمَةِ بِعُرُوْقِهَا

and the obedience of the corpses that join their veins

وَ بِكَلِمَتِكَ النَّافِذَةِ بَيْنَهُمْ

and in the name of Your Word that is effective on them

وَ اَخْذِكَ الْحَقَّ مِنْهُمْ

and in the name of Your judging justly among them;

وَ الْخَلَاۤئِقُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ

while the [other] creatures are standing before You

يَنْتَظِرُوْنَ فَصْلَ قَضَاۤئِكَ

awaiting the decisions of Your judgment,

وَ يَرْجُوْنَ رَحْمَتَكَ وَ يَخَافُوْنَ عِقَابَكَ

hoping for Your mercy, and fearing Your punishment;

صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

(please do) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَ اجْعَلِ النُّوْرَ فِي بَصَرِيْ

place light in my sight,

وَ الْيَقِيْنَ فِي قَلْبِيْ

strong belief in my heart,

وَ ذِكْرَكَ بِاللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهَارِ عَلٰى لِسَانِيْ

and reference to You night and day on my tongue,

وَ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا فَارْزُقْنِيْ۔

and provide me with a righteous deed.
